I always feel like our life is chaotic but the past few weeks have proven to be more chaotic than usual. Right before Christmas, we made a move from Michigan to Ohio and we were barely settled before the holidays were upon us. One of the many benefits of homeschooling is flexibility and we decided to take advantage of this flexibility to reduce some of the stress. For the past few weeks, the kids have been doing a light homeschool load where they focused primarily on math and reading. This has allowed me to set up our new homeschool room and get things settled here in Ohio. During this time I often found them reading independently or researching random topics of interest. Over our, Christmas break my oldest who is ten decided that he would like to build a small two person boat so we were doing a lot of research on what materials were involved. Hopefully, this will be a project that we can show off in a few months when the warmer weather arrives here in the Midwest. Finally, I feel like we have things under control and we are enjoying the process of learning about our new state and city. The kids overall have transitioned nicely and I feel reducing their workload over the past month has allowed them to recharge so I am hopeful that we will slide back into a good routine. I look forward to a brand new year and whatever comes our way. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years.
